This review and meta-analysis discusses periconceptional environmental exposures that have been shown to adversely affect humans and animal models and discusses mechanistic causes and consequences. The researchers also report on the relative contributions of maternal and paternal factors on long-term periconceptional influences, in an established low-protein diet (LPD) model of parental undernutrition.
