LONDON - A new laboratory technique is making it possible to analyse many gene processes simultaneously, bringing hope that trypanosomiasis - also known as sleeping sickness - will soon be understood sufficiently well to help design rational drugs for curing it without the side effects and disadvantages of current treatments. Scientists at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and University of Cambridge have now released details of their powerful new laboratory technique in the scientific journal Nature. David Horn explained to Peter Goodwin how this could transform treatments for trypanosomiasis.
